Callouts, Timing and Pricing
A call-out charge can apply and we tell you what it is before we travel, so there is never a surprise on the doorstep. For planned work it is usually folded into the job price.
We can usually give you a realistic range. The exact figure depends on what is actually on the door: the lock type, the condition of the frame, whether the door has dropped, and whether parts are needed. We confirm the price on site before we start, and nothing happens until you agree it.
It depends where you are and what is already booked. From Naas, most of Kildare is inside about half an hour. Lockouts are prioritised, so a planned job can shift by an hour or two on a busy day.
Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 20:00. Lockouts are answered outside those hours wherever we can get to you, so it is always worth ringing.
Card or bank transfer for work carried out on site, and card at checkout for anything bought through the online shop. Larger supply and fit jobs may need a deposit, which we agree in advance.
Yes, for every job. If you need it for an insurance claim or for your accounts, say so and we will make sure it has the detail your insurer or bookkeeper wants.
Lockouts and Getting Back In
Not if we can avoid it. Some locks, particularly older or already damaged ones, leave drilling as the only realistic option, and we will tell you that before we do it rather than after.
Photo identification plus something that ties you to the address: a bill, a tenancy agreement, post, a bank card with the address, or a landlord or letting agent who can confirm it. It is not us being awkward, it is the reason you want a licensed locksmith rather than someone off a lamp post.
Yes. We can get you in and then either replace the cylinder or supply new keys, depending on the lock. If the key was lost somewhere it could be linked to your address, changing the cylinder is the safer option.
Usually not. We will tell you honestly whether it is worth keeping.

Home Locks and Security
Yes. You have no idea how many keys are out there from previous owners, tenants, builders or cleaners. It is one of the cheapest pieces of security you will ever buy.
Anti-snap cylinders are designed to resist lock snapping, which is the most common way uPVC and composite doors get opened by burglars. If your door has a euro cylinder and it is not anti-snap, it is worth changing. Many insurers now expect it.
Often it is the door or the hinges rather than the lock itself. Doors drop and frames move with the weather. We check alignment before replacing anything, because fitting a new lock into a misaligned door just breaks the new lock too.
Usually yes, within reason. If the locks are compatible we can key them alike so one key opens the front, back and side doors. It is a common job and it makes life a lot easier.
Yes, and we will be straight with you about which ones are worth having. We specify, fit and set them up, and we make sure there is a sensible plan for when the battery dies.
Business and Commercial
A hierarchy of keys: staff get keys that open only what they need, while a master key opens everything. It suits any premises where different people need different access, from a small office to a school.
Keys on a patented profile that cannot be copied in a shop. Only we can cut them, and only with your written authority, so you know exactly how many keys exist and who has them.
Yes. Lock changes and installations are regularly done early or late in the day so that trading is not interrupted. Tell us the window and we will work to it.
Regularly. Tenancy changeovers, lost keys, key handovers and keeping a record of what is fitted where across a portfolio are all routine for us.
Safes
Start with what is going in it and then go one size up, because safes fill quickly. Then check what your insurer requires. If you tell us the cover you need and what you are storing, we will point you at the right range.
They are the amount of cash, and typically ten times that in valuables, that an insurer will generally cover in that safe when it is correctly installed. They are an insurance guide rather than a measure of how hard the safe is to open.
For almost every insurance policy, yes. Most safes come with the fixings to anchor them into a concrete floor or a solid wall, as the manufacturer specifies.
Neither is safer, they just fail differently. Keys cannot run out of battery but can be lost or copied, while electronic locks are quicker and let you change the code. For a safe several people use, electronic usually wins.
